Dermal Fillers
- .5-1.5 Hour Procedure
- Back to Work: Immediately
At Rejuvenate! medical spa, many women and men tell us they want to look younger or improve facial features without plastic surgery or downtime. We are pleased to have a selection of dermal fillers including Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® to provide our Denver and Golden, Colorado, clients a variety of improvements. Some fillers smooth away lines and folds; others restore volume to the cheeks. We can even plump up and define the lips with fillers specially formulated to move naturally with your mouth when you speak, smile and make other facial expressions.
How Do Fillers Work?
Two substances, collagen and hyaluronic acid, keep your skin looking smooth and supple. Collagen is a protein that provides your skin with structural support. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in all living cells that attracts and binds water, hydrating the skin and giving it plump, youthful-looking volume. Over time, excessive exposure to the sun, the natural aging process, and other factors can diminish these substances causing the skin to lose structure and volume. Lines, wrinkles, and folds begin to appear.
Which Fillers Contain Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers such as the Restylane and JUVÉDERM collections have replaced collagen as the “go to” option for facial fillers. Because the body produces HA naturally, it rarely causes an allergic reaction, and it gives a smoother, more natural appearance than collagen. In addition to looking and feeling more natural, these fillers have been shown to last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years (depending on the specific filler and where it is injected). Another advantage of HA fillers is the fact that they are reversible. Though rarely needed, there is an enzyme called hyaluronidase that can be injected to reverse any unwanted cosmetic results within 24 hours.
At Rejuvenate!, we used HA fillers for a variety of improvements, including:
Overall Facial Rejuvenation
- JUVÉDERM® Ultra and Restylane® Refyne fill in fine lines and depressions and smooth away mild to deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
- JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus and Restylane® Defyne smooth away mild to deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. We also rejuvenate the mid-face by filling in moderate to advanced folds and wrinkles.
Lip Enhancement & Augmentation
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® and Restylane® Silk add fullness and definition to thinning or naturally thin lips while allowing natural expression and movement. These fillers are excellent for filling in delicate areas such as vertical lip lines and tear troughs under the eyes.
Volumizing the Face
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC and Restylane® Lyft restore and add volume to the cheeks and the chin to define contours and give an overall more youthful look.
What Is Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Sculptra different from HA fillers. It is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to stimulate collagen production, for gradual, long-lasting facial rejuvenation. With several injections over a period of months, Sculptra can provide the following benefits:
- Fill out flat or hollowed cheeks
- Soften smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- Contour the chin and jawline
After your first treatment, it may appear that Sculptra worked immediately because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute the product. A few days after the treatment, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before the treatment. As collagen increases in the skin, treated areas gradually look naturally rejuvenated.
You will want to have a recheck 4 weeks after your first injection to decide if you need more. Results can last up to 2 years. We recommend maintenance treatments before this time to continue your improvements.
Which Filler Should I Choose?
Our nurse injector will assist you in choosing the right tissue filler or filler combination during a personal consultation. A complete history is taken and other considerations such as allergies, cost, and recovery time are reviewed. You will also be instructed on pre- and post-treatment care and precautions.
Keys to Choosing Your Facial Rejuvenation Clinician
It is important to make sure the person performing your injectable treatment is properly trained and licensed. At Rejuvenate!, facial fillers and neurotoxins are administered by registered nurses and a physician assistant. With Dr. Wolfe and Dr. Vath as the medical directors of Rejuvenate!, you can rest assured that you are being treated by clinicians that have access to advanced training, methodology, and product knowledge when it comes to injection techniques and current and new products
Meet Our Surgeons Request Your ConsultationWhat Are Filler Treatments Like?
While filler injections are often called “lunchtime” procedures, the clinicians at Rejuvenate! take the time to understand your goals and expectations by starting with a cosmetic consultation. In addition, patients are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to their procedure so that the necessary forms can be completed if you are a new patient or updated if you are an existing patient.
Tissue fillers are injected using a very thin needle to direct the filler to the targeted areas of the face. Today, most fillers contain lidocaine to control discomfort during the injections. Depending on the treatment area, we may recommend a topical numbing agent or a nerve block. Once the treatment is complete, patients may resume their normal daily activities. It is advised to minimize any exercise immediately following any injection to minimize bruising.
What Are Possible Risks & Side Effects of Filler Treatments?
- Dermal fillers should ease the appearance of aging and provide a youthful appearance. Dermal fillers that distort the normal appearance of facial features have not been done correctly.
- Lumps and bumps are problems that need to be addressed and could indicate poor product placement. If the lumps and bumps are still evident after 48 hours they are not the result of swelling.
- Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra cannot be corrected or removed once injected. Because of this, we recommend our patients considering Sculptra try JUVÉDERM or Restylane fillers first to make sure they are pleased with the effect.
