Breast Implant Removal (Explant) Before & After Case 10864

This 46 year-old woman who had previously had lower-300cc range saline implants placed subglandularly (over the muscle) approximately 4 years earlier, resulting in soft, fairly well-positioned implants, and a smaller D-cup bra size.  She ultimately felt this was a bit large, however, and  wished to have them removed,  mostly due to weight/discomfort issues, and the fact that she was OK with a B/C cup bra size.  She did recognize that the implants (and general aging, having also had 3 children) had led to a fair amount of skin excess, which would likely have to be addressed with a breast lift, especially in the face of the "deflation" effect that would result from removing the implants.

This is indeed what I recommended, that she undergo a formal mastopexy, with placement of small drains in the pockets to help them collapse.  This was performed as a 2-3 hour outpatient procedure, which she tolerated quite well; the drains were removed one week later and these photos are from approximately 4 months post-op.
