When considering a plastic surgery procedure, you deserve the most qualified, experienced surgeon around. Many people want their surgery performed by the best of the best, regardless of the doctor’s location.
Even though our practices are located in Denver and Golden, we see plastic surgery patients from Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and even out of state. We’re honored that these men and women trust us to make their aesthetic dreams a reality. If you’re interested in top-notch care, traveling for plastic surgery may be worth the trip.
Is Traveling for Plastic Surgery Common?
Traveling for plastic surgery has become increasingly popular in recent years. This practice, sometimes known as “medical tourism,” had lead to many patients traveling to different cities, states, or countries for high-quality treatment. Most men and women learn of their “dream” doctors by browsing their websites or social media pages. If you see amazing results from a particular practice, you may consider scheduling a visit.

Why We’re Worth the Trip
Undergoing plastic surgery is a physical, emotional, and financial investment. You shouldn’t lower your expectations just because the surgeon you want isn’t in your area. Dr. Vath, Dr. Steinwald, and Dr. Wolfe are all trusted, board-certified plastic surgeons. This means they’ve undergone years of extensive training to specialize in performing popular plastic surgery procedures, including:
Additionally, Denver International Airport is a major airline hub, and our practice is within a few hours’ drive from anywhere in Colorado. Both Fort Collins and Colorado Springs are just over an hour away, and many of our plastic surgery patients find the drive to be a minimal tradeoff for the experience and results they get with us.
Can I Schedule a Virtual Consultation?
We offer a stress-free, step-by-step onboarding process to make your telemedicine experience as easy as possible. Our practice offers phone and Skype consultations for those who live out of the area. You can reserve your consultation time by calling (303) 278-2600 or emailing [email protected]. Our staff will collect the necessary information and schedule you with the doctor of your choice.
There are a few steps you can take before your virtual consultation to help the process go as smoothly as possible. First, take pictures of the area you wish to treat so our staff can properly analyze your body. You can also download all your patient paperwork in advance right from our website. Once your forms are complete, scan or email your information over so we can add it to your file.
Your doctor will review your file before your consultation begins. On the day of your meeting, your doctor will contact you within 10 minutes of your consultation time.
When Can I Travel After Surgery?
If you’re traveling to visit our practice, that means you’ll need to plan for a trip back home. The extent of your procedure will affect how soon you’ll be able to fly or drive afterward. For breast augmentation or a breast lift, you can be fit to travel after just a few days. But for a tummy tuck or a Mommy Makeover, you may need to wait for closer to a week. No matter what the procedure, you’ll need to be off of prescription pain medication before you’re approved to drive.
After your surgery, we recommend staying in the Denver or Golden area. Our practice has partnered with a few of the area’s most comfortable and respected hotels, which offer special rates and services for our patients. These hotels are only a short drive from our Golden surgical facility. Ask our staff for recommendations if you would like to learn more.
How To Stay Safe While Traveling
Traveling for plastic surgery can be an exciting experience, but you need to take care of your body throughout your trip. Here are a few ways to stay safe and healthy while you’re on the move:
- Movement: Staying still too long after surgery can potentially increase your risk of blood clots. As early as the day of your surgery, try slowly walking around your block or hotel room. If you’re flying, take a stroll up and down the aisle.
- Avoid Blood Thinners: Watch what kind of medications you take after your surgery. Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and vitamin E.
- Have a Support Group: Let your friends and family know that you will be traveling out of town for your procedure. If possible, bring a loved one along who can accompany you on your journey.
- Don’t Rush the Process: Give your body plenty of time to heal and relax at its own pace. Take enough time off so that you don’t have to rush back into the workplace. Listen to your body and follow your doctor’s post-op instructions.
Amazing results and great patient care make traveling for plastic surgery worth the trip. Whether you’re driving in from Colorado Springs or flying in from New York, our staff is here to support you.
