I’m just curious about the average cost of male breast reduction surgery. I’m 32, 6’2″ ish, 195-200 lbs, healthy, and no allergies.
At our Denver practice, gynecomastia surgery, often called male breast reduction, typically costs between $4,700 and $7,400 depending on the specifics of the surgery. Sometimes the excess fat can be removed with liposuction alone and sometimes glandular excision is necessary. When both techniques are combined the cost typically ranges from $8,400 to $9,400. Will smoking affect my recovery?
Smoking adversely affects wound healing. The small vessels that supply blood to the tissues shrink up and prevent the necessary nutrients for healing to get to the wound. The incidence of having a wound complication such as an open wound or skin death is much higher in smokers. Furthermore, the rate of wound infection is also significantly increased in smokers for the same reason of limited blood flow. Because of this, a patient must stop smoking for a minimum of two weeks prior to surgery to decrease the risk of these complications.

Gynecomastia (or male breast tissue) reduction surgery can sometimes be done with just liposuction or sometimes a combination of liposuction and glandular excision is necessary.

With liposuction only: $4700
With surgical excision: $6400-$7400
Combo lipo and excision: $8400-$9400
These prices include includes surgeon’s fees, garment, operating room, anesthesia, and all pre and post operative visits.

About Gynecomastia, How long is the process? What are the requirements? Can it be cover by insurance?
I’m 22 years old, live in Alabama but have family members in Denver. I really need to get my chest fixed. I’m embarrassed to be seen, makes me insecure, love and hate going to the beach/pool. I’ve been in a relationship for 5 years and everytime we have sexual intercourse I never take my shirt off. 5 YEARS! I’m ashamed, feel abnormal, it’s hell.

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling that way, but we can certainly help! Gynecomastia is a pretty straight-forward procedure. It can sometimes be done with liposuction only, but sometimes it requires an excision of glandular tissue. Recovery time is pretty much the same regardless of the process used to remove the tissue/fat. We are booking into Late June/July for our consultations. It is generally about 4-6 weeks from your consult to the first available surgery date. We do offer Skype or Phone consultations for our out-of-town patients. In order to do this, we would need you to email photos and the new patient paperwork to us so the doctor can review them before he talks to you. We will schedule a time on the doctor’s schedule during which he will call you and discuss the procedure, etc. If you decide you would like to schedule surgery, then we can schedule your pre operative appointment and surgery within a couple days of each other. You may return home after 2-10 days depending on the procedure(s) you are having, length of your drive or flight, and your health history.
Unfortunately, this procedure is considered cosmetic, so is not covered by insurance.
